Tickets: Tickets are $10 for all day and can be purchased at the door.

Saturday, November 16th:

• Varsity men and Varsity women wrestlers should arrive at Laney HS by 5:45a (back parking lot by the practice room) to check weight and help pack the bus.

• Bus LEAVES LANEY HS at 6:00a!!! DO NOT MISS THE BUS!!

• Weigh ins - 7:30a

• Wrestling starts - 9:30a

Format: 

• Men - Individual tournament, double elimination

• Girls - Round robin or double elimination brackets, determined by number of participants. 

• Wrestling will take place on four (4) mats for the duration of the tournament. No double entry will be allowed into this tournament.

Awards: Awards will be presented to the top three (3) places in each weight class, team champion, and Most Outstanding Wrestler (MOW) 

Potential Teams: Dixon, Ashley, Cleveland, Croatan, First Flight, Havelock, Hoggard, Laney, New Bern, New Hanover, North Brunswick, Northside (Jax.), Richlands, South Brunswick, Southwest Onslow, Swansboro, Washington, West Craven, White Oak

• In the past, this tournament was run utilizing 2 different buildings and they were quite a distance apart so be prepared to possibly walk quite a distance during the day.

• This tournament will last ALL DAY. I cannot speculate when it will be done but the more we win, the longer we stay!

• JV men will be released from class at a time TBD. Wrestlers should report immediately to the practice room. Once Coach Adams confirms the release time, he will send a google chat to the wrestlers.

• Wrestler check in - 4:30p

• Wrestling starts approximately 5:45p

Format: Madison round robin groups  We will strive to give each wrestler three (3) matches. Matches will be 1-1-1.  Wrestling will take place on five (5) mats for the duration of the tournament.

Women's tournament is an individual format on Saturday ONLY. Men's varsity will compete in a "super dual" which consists of 9 team duals, from various states, over 2 days. Due to the format, in addition to the 14 starting weight classes, additional wrestlers are being determined and Coach Adams will let the individual wrestlers know if they are expected to attend.

The teams will leave on Thurs 12/26, wrestle 12/27 and 12/28, and return home on Sunday 12/29.

• Women and Men’s Varsity will dual Topsail and any applicable JV matches that can be arranged will take place. **I do not know the order that they will compete and I'm tired of guessing :0) I recommend spectators arrive by 5:30 to support ALL our wrestlers

• Topsail has approximately 6-7 members on their women’s team 

• *JV – Coaches from both teams make every effort to arrange JV matches when possible. Sometimes JV matches are held BEFORE Varsity and sometimes AFTER. A conference JV match is not guaranteed for every wrestler. It depends heavily on who the opposing team's roster. Again, every effort is made to give the wrestlers live matches whenever possible.

Sharing some additional information I have received for the ladies and families for Regionals this weekend:

Location - will wrestle in the main gym on three (3) mats Friday and Saturday and will utilize the 3 mats until the finals. At that point, will utilize two (2) mats for finals and consi finals.

Coolers - Per the event coordinator, Teams will be allowed to bring a team cooler into the CAFETERIA for their wrestlers after weigh in. Parents and wrestlers will not be allowed to bring outside food into the gym.

Awards: 

• Medals will be awarded to the top four (4) places in each weight class.  

• Any wrestler that places 4th or higher will be designated a “STATE QUALIFIER” and will then be eligible to compete in the 3-day, Individual State Championship tournament in Greensboro, NC Feb 20th-22nd.

Additional info:

• REGIONALS IS FOR ELIGIBLE WOMEN ONLY. Coaches will let the wrestlers know if they are eligible to compete at Regionals. 

• PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN OVERNIGHT EVENT!! Wrestlers will be on their best behavior at all times. There will be consequences for any misbehavior which could include removal from the team.
